In less than one month the 2nd FIHB Champions League will be held during the prestigious event of the Stockholm Horse Show at the Globe Arena from 27th to 29th Nov 2008.
After the success of last year the Swedish Organisation Committee and the FIHB bureau decided to repeat the same experience. The countries invited this year are four: the French Champion’s Team Chambly, the Belgium Team Caramel, the Spanish Team Cardedeu and the new entry instead of the last year Portuguese Team, the Great Britain Team of Melton.
“We are very please to welcome the 2nd FIHB Champions League again after the big success we had last year” Said Ulf Rosengren President of the Stockholm Year Show “Our objective will be to keep the finals of this competition for the following years in our show to satisfy our always demanding public and partners”.

During the last FIHB General Assembly the decision has been taken to increase the number of members in the Bureau from 5 to 6. Marcelo Eduardo Busto from Argentina has been elected. Marcelo is President of the Horse-Ball Commission within the PAF (Pato Argentinian Federation) which is now member of the FIHB.
During the past years FIHB has been strongly pushing for the development of Horse-Ball in North and South America. After the organisation in 2006 of an important event in Buenos Aires with the participation of Brazil, Canada, USA and Argentina, it created the motivation and the interest of this country to join our International organisation. The World Cup in Ponte de Lima during these last days gave the final input and push for Argentina to confirm their place in the Horse-Ball world, both from a competitive point of view and from a promotional point of view.
"I am very pleased and delighted to be now in FIHB organisation and I will be able to represent the interests of the whole American continent" said Marcelo. "I am glad that Argentina is joining our organisation and especially that Marcelo has become a Bureau member" said Eric Bassot, FIHB President, "to have a country like Argentina in our Bureau with such a background of experience in Pato and such an experienced person like Marcelo, brings great value to our whole organisation".

 Jean-Paul Depons: Il est à l'origine de notre sport. C'est dans les années 70 avec son frère Bernard qu'ils inventent les règles du jeu qui sont aujourd'hui à la base de notre sport. Pendant plusieurs années son équipe est restée invaincue gagnant plusieurs championnats de France jusqu'à la fin des années 80. C'est alors que la France décide d'exporter notre sport à l'étranger en commençant d'ailleurs par le Portugal et ensuite les pays anglo-saxon. C'est la naissance du HB International. Il mettra sur pied la première Commission Internationale de HB dont j'ai eu l'honneur d'être le Secrétaire Général. Jean Paul nous a quittés il y a quelque mois, mais il nous laisse en héritage sa passion, son expérience, son ambition pour ce sport qu'il souhaitait universel. Il était un grand organisateur et grand homme de communication qu'il a su transmettre à la FIHB . Cette manifestation est le résultat vivant qu'il avait vu juste, et il restera vivant dans nos cœurs tant que notre Sport continuera à croître dans le respect des valeurs auxquelles Jean Paul tenait tant : la passion, le fairplay, l'amitié, l'honneur, le respect. Nous avons la grande joie et l'honneur d'avoir parmi nous ce soir sa femme Danielle Depons !

I met Jean Paul when I started to play Horse-Ball in 1989 , during a stage in Blanzac of which I have excellent memories.
At that time Jean Paul DEPONS was the President of the French Commission. He wrote, alongside his brother Bernard, the modern rules of Horse-Ball in the 70’s.
