What is Horse-Ball

Horse-Ball is a highly spectacular equestrian sport which can be defined as a kind of "basket-ball on a horseback". It was started off in France by French Army Captain Clave, a showjumping World Champion in the 30's. In the 70's the French Equestrian Federation defined the rules on which the game is now played. In 1999 the International Horse-Ball Federation was created to manage and promote the sport across the globe. Horse-Ball today is played by thousands of people in 3 continents. In April 2004 FIHB was recognised by the FEI and Horse-Ball became a Regional discipline in Group I and II.

It is with a very great sadness that the FIHB learns Yves Verrier’s death, one of the pioneers of Horse-Ball and one of the precursors of the internationalization of the discipline.

In addition to his dynamism at the national level, Yves was one of the first to contribute actively to the first international competitions. His contribution was of primary importance. His impartiality, his charisma and his great professionalism gave
an example to be followed for generations to come. These values will remain us for always.
The most sincere condolences to his wife, Agnès, and all her family.
