Interview:

FIHB: You are the champion in your country. Can you tell in few words, what you have done for succeed?

Koen Vink: We are a team that play for 3 years with the same player and became a real group.

Each player knows, what is our best position in the game and what are our handicaps.

We don’t forget that horseball is more then playing a ball, it is a real discipline in horse riding.

You need to be a good rider to become a good horseball player.

FIHB: What do you think about “The Champion’s League”?

K.V.: I think that this is a great opportunity to test our team against the best of Europe players and teams.

It is also the best promotions you can do for the sport. Let’s play horseball.

FIHB: The Champion’s League takes place for the first time this year. And you are one of the 4 teams participating.  What does it signify for you?

K.V.: It’s a great honour for us to play this Champions League this year. It is also an award for us for the many work the players and horses have done over the years to evaluate to an excellent team.

FIHB: What are you expecting for you team?

K.V.: I really don’t know. I think we have to see our opponents. I hoop to have a great first match.

FIHB: Can you say some words about the players in your team?

K.V.:

Lawrence RAEMDONCK :        He was a very successful dressage rider in his youth. Now he is one of the most elegant horseball players in Belgium. Very accurate in gaol shots.

Guy VANHERREWEGHE :        He is the oldest player in our team, but not the least one. Very good captain to support his team and to organise the game. Selected as player for the national team.

Robin Cool:                        Selected several times for the national team. Goal getter. Very good view on the game. Good jumping rider. Always focussed to succeed. Top score for the last 2 years.

Joeri SCHEPENS:                  Goal getter as well. Started playing horseball as young player and came back last year to join back to the team. A real acrobat and very motivated.

Piet VERHEYEN:                   Start playing for over 3 or 4 years at the team. He growth to a real good horseball player. He is initiator in horse riding and give lessons. No fear.

Simon DE KESEL:                 The youngest one.  He is very learn full and is on his way to get the level of the rest of the team very soon. He teaches pony riders how to play horseball.

Wim VANHERREWEGHE:         Has been selected several times for the national team in the past. The most experience player. His strength is to give the faith and support to the team.

When Horse-Ball for the first time was introduced to the Swedish audience at Stockholm International horse Show 2006 it was a roaring success. The TV commentators said that it was the most fantastic development that the equestrian sport has ever seen, much more exciting that they could ever anticipate. In the thorough public survey among our spectators, that is done every year, it was top ranked. A Champions League Final in Stockholm in the fantastic Globe Arena would be embraced with the greatest interest by media and spectators alike.
